2012 Boondooma Dam Yellowbelly Fishing Competition

Annual Boondooma Dam Yellowbelly Fishing Competition will be held at Boondooma Dam on the Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th Febuary 2012, commencing at 5:00am Saturday morning and concluding at around lunchtime the following day.

The event is organised by Boondooma Dam Fish Stocking Association in conjunction with a host of sponsors. There will be adult and junior sections and numerous cash prizes for each weigh in section.

A licensed bar, BBQ and food and drink stalls will be operating for the duration, and accommodation for competitors is available at the adjoining Lake Boondooma Caravan & Recreation Park.

Competition entry fees are $20 for Adults and $5 for Juniors aged less than 16 years. Competition entry fees do not include the cost for camping at the lake. Registrations will be accepted for the fishing competition from 12.30pm on Friday 10th February 2012 at the stocking association clubhouse.

The fishing and family fun weekend is a major fundraiser that supports the ongoing stocking of Lake Boondooma.  The 2011 competition attracted 359 competitors including 62 juniors enjoying a great weekend of camping, fishing and family activities.

All competitors 18 years and over will need to have a Stocked Impoundment Permit to take part, these can be obtained from the Kiosk, online at www.dpi.qld.gov.au.

Boondooma Dam is located on the Boyne River a little more than 15km from Proston (which itself is located about 39km from the township of Wondai)
